Westward - American Single Malt Whiskey

This is not your typical whiskey! This whiskey from Oregon starts its journey as an American Pale Ale that goes through slow fermentation and double distillation. After this, the resulting spirit is then matured in lightly toasted new American Oak barrels.

This amber color whiskey is made from Pacific Northwest two-row barley and fermented with American ale yeast for an outstanding an unique flavor. On the nose I got aromas of blossom, candy, honey, butterscotch, butter cookies and a hint of vanilla.

Moderately full on the palate, the flavor of toasted barley comes though, it starts smooth, creamy and with a light sweet finish and then after a few sips I started to get orange peel and citrus fruits. It warms your throat but doesn't burn, it's actually really smooth and enjoyable.

I usually don’t drink American whiskey but I'm glad I tried this one. The bottle costs about $70 which is an amount I usually wouldn't spend on American whiskey, but a version of 500ml bottle of this whiskey came with one of my Flaviar membership shipments (It's a great way to try new spirits).

This is the new look of the bottle, if you’re going to buy it look for this label.
